FAQ’s

Should I have my brows shaped before the treatment?

We recommend leaving your brows natural so we can see exactly what we’re working with and we will shape them during your treatment.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most clients describe feeling discomfort but nothing too painful, we apply a numbing gel during your treatment to help this and most clients usually fall off to sleep. If you would like to use a numbing cream prior to treatment you will need to purchase a tube of Emla topical numbing cream from the pharmacy ($18) apply 1/2 the tube between both brows 30 mins before your treatment and cover with with clingfilm (saving the other half for your perfecting session in 6 weeks) and arrive at your appointment with clingfilm still covering.

What aftercare will I need to follow?

Aftercare will be thoroughly discussed during your treatment and also given to you in an email prior to your appointment along with some things to note before your treatment.

Why do I need to have the perfecting session 6 weeks following my initial appointment?

The perfecting session or “touch up” appointment is CRUCIAL to the final outcome of your brows! Due to your body’s natural immune response it’s completely normal to lose up to 30% of the pigment from your first session. Because of the way your skin will go through its healing process, in 6 weeks time we are able to see the true result of what we are left with and we will then be able to perfect your brows by adding to your shape and evening out, possibly going darker with your colour.

What happens in my appointment?

When you arrive for your appointment we will get you to fill in our consultation form where you will sign you have no contra-indications that will hinder or stop the treatment from happening. We will confirm which technique you would like performed and begin mapping your shape. Your brow shape is measured and tailored to your natural features and tweaked to what both of us find flattering and comfortable for your face. Once we’re on the same page and happy with the template we have drawn we will begin applying pigment into the skin using a hand held tool known as a Microblade or our Diaderm tattoo machine. We will perform the 1st pass on one brow, cover with anaesthetic gel and cling film and move onto your second brow. We will perform multiple passes per brow depending on where may need our attention once we begin and the anaesthetic gel will be reapplied throughout these for comfort. Once your treatment is complete we will talk through aftercare and what to expect up until your perfecting session.

What happens in between my initial appointment and perfecting session?

Immediately after your treatment and for the next couple of days your brows will appear darker as the pigment is fresh and sitting in the skin mixed with blood but remember as the healing process occurs the colour will soften, lighten and look more natural.

The initial healing period is approximately 10-14 days, however healing can be prolonged if your immune system is compromised or if you do not follow correct aftercare to look after your brows. Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of colour is to be expected and this is the purpose of the perfecting session allowing us to enhance any areas we need to.

Proper care following your treatment is necessary to achieve the best results, you may experience the following symptoms after your treatment (which are part of the natural healing process)

  • Minor swelling and redness.

  • Mild tenderness.

  • Itchiness in the eyebrow area.

  • Dry flaking skin.

Why do I need to have a yearly touch up?

The pigment we use in your treatment is designed to fade over time, this is so as we age and our features change we are able to tailor your brows to suit your face. Your touch up may fall between 12-24months and should only be done when needed so we don’t irritate the skin by going in too many times or more than needed. Everyone’s skin and healing process can vary so with this in mind each individuals results may vary.
